Today I had the humbling opportunity to talk to about 80 women ranging in age from 25-80+ years! The four oldest women in the group today got a tub of butter thanking them for coming to fellowship with them for the 3 day conference. When I spoke to the women I spoke from the book of Ruth, I explained as women in Christ we need to study the women we find in the bible. There is so much to learn from these women! I spoke on Ruth 1:15-17 and also the story of Joseph and Potiphers wife, found in Genesis. We talked about how Satan can be very tempting but only a love for Christ will sustain a long term commitment to obedience. |
Also, throughout some churches here I've struggled with the fact that people put to much faith in who is delivering the Gospel to them than who the Gospel is all about. They also rest on what God can do for them (God will grant me good health, riches, and success). So I made a statement in my teaching today:
"God does not promise us good health, nice clothes, and a good job. However, He does promise us eternal life if we are obedient to Him and love Him. This is a far greater gift than anything He could give us in this world."
I share this with you not just because this is what I see in Africa, but what I see in the world as a whole. Instead of us thinking What can God do for me, we need to change our mindset to how we can better serve Christ.
How can you be praying for us:

How can you be praying for us:
- As we prepare to visit the Maasi tomorrow that they would have soft hearts, open ears and a desire they cannot contain for the fellowship and worship we will participate in with them tomorrow.
- For my sisters friend, Laura Yost and her brother who were in a very bad car accident yesterday morning. Hannah and Laura play soccer together and she is currently at Duke Hospital in a medically induced coma.
